Step 7: Survey Translations

Overview

Once your survey settings are launched, the next step is to make it accessible to a multilingual audience. This involves adding translations for your questions, survey descriptions, and emails. Offering surveys in respondents’ native languages reduces cognitive load, encourages higher completion rates, and elicits more honest, nuanced responses.

Permissions

To add translations, you must have Manage Survey permissions or be a Survey Admin. Having the Create TeamVoice permission and being the creator of the TeamVoice allows you to add survey translations.

The following steps are only required if your survey has more than one language selected. If the default language (English) is used, these steps will not be available in your survey.

 

Adding your Translations

To launch your survey in multiple languages, you will need to upload translations for the selected languages. This can be done at a later stage if needed.

  1. Click on the Upload Translations button and download the template
  2. The Excel sheet will contain the fields that require translation. The sheet includes the following columns: 
    • Element: The part of the survey that will be translated.
    • English (Default): Displays the survey text in English to be translated.
    • Maltese: This column is where you should enter the Maltese version of the English text.
  3. Add your translations in the Maltese column.
  4. Click the Upload Translations button again. In the pop-up, click Upload File to import your translations.

 

Viewing and Managing Uploaded Translations

Once uploaded, translations will be displayed in a table format showing all information from the bulk upload sheet.

If some translations were uploaded by mistake or are not relevant to your current TeamVoice survey, you can remove them by clicking “Remove All”. This will delete all uploaded translations, allowing you to restart the process if needed.

To add more translations or update the list, simply amend the bulk upload template previously downloaded and include the new translations.

  1. Click the “Re-upload” button. A pop-up window will appear.
  2. Click “Download Template” if you need a fresh copy of the file.
  3. Add the required translations and details to the template.
  4. Click “Upload File” to import the updated list.

When re-uploading, make sure to include all previously entered translations in the sheet to avoid losing any existing data.
