Overview
This article outlines the essential employee address formatting rules required to successfully generate Bank of Valletta (BOV) SEPA bank files within the Payroll module. Following these validation standards prevents payment processing failures and minimizes file rejections by the bank. Proactively managing employee profiles ensures seamless bank transfers during your payroll cycle.
Before you start
You can review the addresses within Talexio by downloading a report from the People section to review the data for the employee address. Columns you can include are: Name, Emp. #, Full Address, Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City/Town, State Province Region, Postcode.
BOV Address Validations
Talexio automatically truncates Address Line 1 and Address Line 2 to 35 characters inside the generated bank file if the text fields exceed this limit.
- Address Line 1 (Mandatory): Enter the text using sentence case or title case (mixed upper and lower case). Do not use uppercase text exclusively.
- Address Line 2 (Mandatory): Enter the street name using sentence case or title case (mixed upper and lower case). Do not use uppercase text exclusively.
- Town/City (Mandatory): Enter the standard town name. Avoid using special Maltese character sets as the bank file processing system accepts only standard English characters.
- Country (Mandatory): Select Malta from the dropdown menu. For employees residing in Gozo, enter Gozo within the State Province Region field while keeping the country option set as Malta.
- Post Code (Optional): Enter the postal code using uppercase characters and numbers only.
Failing to format text fields into mixed case or including special Maltese characters will result in immediate file rejection upon uploading the file to the BOV portal.
