Overview
This reference guide provides an explanation of the core physical device settings on your clocking hardware. Use this article to verify your current hardware parameters and understand how each setting impacts network communications, cloud connectivity, employee interaction, and seasonal timekeeping.
Modifying advanced hardware or network settings can disrupt physical device synchronisation with Talexio. Always consult the support team before altering IP parameters or server links.
Communication Settings (COMM)
The COMM menu configures your device's network connectivity and establishes its direct communication path to the cloud environment.
| Setting Path | Option State | Explanation & Functional Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Ethernet > DHCP | ON | The clocking device dynamically requests and receives an IP address automatically from your local network router. This is recommended for standard network configurations. |
| Ethernet > DHCP | OFF | Disables dynamic allocation and activates Static IP mode. The device requires manually assigned fixed parameters (IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway) to maintain a permanent local network location. |
| Cloud Server Settings > Server Address | URL Link |
Contains the specific connection URL (cdm.talexiohr.com) used to communicate with the Cloud Device Manager (CDM). It is important that this link is not changed. The CDM acts as the vital communication bridge between your physical clocking device and Talexio. |
Personalisation Settings
Personalisation options control how employees interact with the physical device interface when registering their attendance.
| Setting Path | Option State | Explanation & Functional Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Punch State Option > Punch State Required | ON | Employees must physically select a direction on the screen—choosing specifically to clock In or clock Out—before verifying their credentials. This is the recommended option. |
| Punch State Option > Punch State Required | OFF | Disables direction selection. Employees can scan their credentials immediately without specifying whether they are starting or ending a shift. |
Setting Punch State Required to OFF is not recommended. Turning this setting off can create ambiguous clocking logs that require manual administrator correction within Talexio. If you are interested in disabling this option, please reach out to our Support team for assistance.
System & Time Settings
System time configuration dictates how the physical clocking hardware handles seasonal time shifts throughout the year.
| Setting Path | Option State | Explanation & Operational Context |
|---|---|---|
| System > Date Time > Daylight Saving Setup | OFF | Default for CDM Clients: If your physical device communicates with Talexio via the Cloud Device Manager (CDM), leave this toggle OFF. Seasonal hour adjustments are automatically synchronized directly from the server. |
| System > Date Time > Daylight Saving Setup | ON | Device-Only Clients: Set to ON only if operating standalone physical hardware without an active CDM connection. This allows the device to internally adjust its clock during seasonal changes. |
