Overview
Before you start to configure your shifts and populate the Working schedule, it is best to set up the Shift Templates. Shift Templates are patterns of work for your employees. Flexi-Time shifts will not require employees to clock in and out at specific times, but simply to work the shift duration selected.
Permissions
To create flexi shifts, you will need the Manage T&A settings permission. This needs to be set on global.
Creating Flexi-Time Shift Templates
There are 2 types of Flexi-Time Shifts:
- Flexi-Time with Specified Hours
- Flexi-Time without Specified Hours
Flexi-Time with Specified Hours
Flexi-Time with Specified Hours are shifts that have an hour requirement to be completed in this shift, but there is no set Start or End time. To set up Flexi-Time with Specified Hours templates:
- From the Time & Attendance section, click on Shift Templates;
- Click + Add Shift Templates;
- Select the Flex Time toggle;
- Fill in the duration of the shift and the portion of unpaid break (if any);
- Click Create.
Flexi-Time without Specified Hours
Flexi-Time without Specified Hours are shifts where the amount of hours completed by the employee is up to the employee discretion. There is no set Start or End time and also no set shift duration. To set up Flexi-Time without Specified Hours templates:
- From the Time & Attendance section, click on Shift Templates;
- Click + Add Shift Templates;
- Select the Flex Time toggle and also the No specified time toggle;
- Click Create.
If such shifts are created and an employee punches in & out on the day, no exceptions will be shown in Review and Approve.
